Patrick Burt's Artistic Biography

Patrick Burt is an Artisan Jeweler living in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Arkansas in 1961, he then traveled with his military family for six years before settling in the Salt River Valley. He graduated cum laude from Northern Arizona University in 1985 with a BFA degree, specializing in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design. Now that Academic schooling was over and the Education of the Marketplace had begun, he realized how worthless his formal education was and how valuable the intangible experiences of those years had been. He now began the often-painful and always rewarding process of truly learning this noble craft.

He formally started his business in 1986, at first working out of his house, then moving into a co-operative shop with another jeweler. That started an on-going affiliation with a commercial jewelry store, which provided him with ample learning opportunities. Having been in his present location now for eight years he realizes that the learning never ends.

Nature in all of its forms is by far the most powerful influence on his design process. Botanical forms, whether they are leaves, trees or flowers appear quite often in his work. The world of flora is so wildly fantastic it's impossible to improve on it. Geology and Geography also come into play.

To produce comfortable jewelry of the highest level of quality that has great artistic appeal at a reasonable price is the mission of Patrick's career.
