Welcome to my website -- I’m glad you’re here (wherever here is). My name is Patrick Burt and I am an Artisan Jeweler. This title means that I am a custom jeweler of the old school. Based in Tempe, AZ (the Phoenix metropolitan area) for the past forty years, I specialize in truly custom designed jewelry.  The hallmark of my business is working directly with my clients to produce the top quality gold and silver items they want and desire.  My core specialty is the design and production of custom wedding rings for couples who know what they want and require something other than the usual.

You will notice many different styles of work on the pages of this website, but remember that many of these images represent the tastes of many different customers over many productive years.

The images you'll see in the slideshow are merely the pieces which are in production or available for shipment. There are many more photos of unique designs from the past thirty years as well as photos of new work being posted monthly.

If you see an appealing image in the slide show, just click on it and you'll be taken to an information page telling you all about that piece of jewelry. Keep in mind that all images are minimal in size to better facilitate loading. If a better image is needed, right click on the image and at the bottom of the menu click on "Refresh image at top quality".

I have recently learned that my website e-mail was down for quite awhile. You need to know that I answer all e-mails; if you didn't receive a reply, I never received an e-mail. If you require immediate information or are having problems with e-mail please call me at my office number 480.921.3141. If you have any questions about jewelry or the jewelry industry please ask them. If your questions have a broad appeal or, most importantly, are fertile grounds for childish humor, I will post them on my FAQ (Fervently Annoying Queries).

Sincerely,
Patrick Burt

Artistic Statement

In the thirty years I've spent getting to the level of craftsmanship on which I now reside, I've learned one overarching truth about jewelry. There are two distinct and rarely overlapping worlds of the jewelry trade with two separate points of view: the sphere of the commercial jeweler and that of the artist. Neither is incorrect, merely — in my opinion — incomplete.

The commercial or store front jeweler naturally must preoccupy himself with the profitability of daily business. Otherwise, failure is inevitable. Concerned with the speed and cost of production, this jeweler quite often disregards originality and the artistic aspect of his product, instead emphasizing the function of the jewel at hand. "Does this wedding ring appeal to the right demographic and can I mass produce this design?" are questions this jeweler must ask.

The art jeweler is often guilty of the opposite sin. The artist often ignores the function of the jewel, thinking only of the form and forgetting aspects like wearability and commercial appeal. If a wedding ring cannot be worn comfortably all day, every day for the rest of your life, then it must be considered a losing design.

Therefore, the aim of my professional career has been to bridge these worlds as well as I can. Taking the best of both worlds and leaving the detriments of each behind, I produce comfortable jewelry of the highest level of quality that has great artistic appeal at a reasonable price.
